Maybe you should try XAMMP Lite. It comes with Apache, PHP, MySQL and a few other things but not Perl. You can have your own ActiveSate Version of Perl running next to it.

Update: Sorry, I didn't notice that there is a mini Perl version included. Just the Perl executable.

And why are there so many german users? It's because apachefriends.org is a german page. It belongs to Kai Seidler.

    I tried XAMPP a few times, it was quite good, but now that I know how to install my own "AMP" stack, I can fine-tune it better. A lot of that knowledge has come from looking at how XAMPP was configured.
