Problems after installing Bundle::CPAN

chrism01 has asked for the wisdom of the Perl Monks concerning the following question:

Hi Monks,
I usually use perl -e shell -MCPAN to install new Perl modules as needed. Every time I login it encourages me to install the above module to get readline support. Seems like a good idea, so just recently I did. However, ever since then, whenever I try to install other modules, it always says "Warning: Cannot install <whatever>, don't know what it is..."
This has happened for Net::SNMP, BER, SNMP_Session, SNMP_util.
Anybody got any ideas?
Cheers
Chris

    in the case of Net::SNMP, the module is just text, and not a gzipped distro. i've had similar issues with modules that don't have a gzipped version (Geography::States comes to mind immediately.)

    looking at CPAN, SNMP::Util is also just a text distribution, so you can just download the module and put it into your site_perl directory. (a simple wget would do.

    You might want to consider installing CPANPLUS. I like it. It's cpan on steroids.
