However this does not mean that Perl will fade away any time soon like COBOL did. Fade away? Surely some mistake :-) You'll be amazed at the amount of COBOL out there at the moment, and the amount of new COBOL that's still being written. We should hope that Perl will still be used as much as COBOL is more than forty years after it was created.
