As I've said to someone else, I think you're confusing cause and correlation. There are consequences that come along with enterprise software, but those don't define it. Perhaps part of the reason that other technologies do so much better than Perl is that they don't spit on managers and executive, no matter how much they might want to. Your sort of answer seems to be rooted more in a personal distaste for non-techies than anything to do with technology. I wouldn't use your defintions. A couple of lines of Perl can demonstrably contribute to success. I also don't think that using enterprise software is ensures success, so adding it might cause a company to go under too (and I've seen companies try to make that transition).
