I worked up a PERL script that takes Audiofile Internet Companion output, breaks it up into HTML files (1 file per album), creates pages per letter (a-z), and creates a TOC of all the pages. It also links related MP3's on the HD to the individual songs. My next trick was to put together what you have already done... I see my code as embarassing as well.

I'd love to see the Audiofile script; can you post it up or post a URL where it can be obtained? The default AIC/Audiofile output is so lame....

I just began rewriting it, and I stink at Perl, but I'll send it to you. Set up a profile, and I'll drop it to you.

Heh, yeah I created one that would parse out a full directory listing of my mp3's and sort by page, A-Z.. after doing so I realized that 311 was pretty much SOL!
