Whenever I've been asked this question in interviews, I point to my CPAN modules. This may not be feasible for you, but it's definitely something to consider. A number of people here (including myself
) have been asking for help with their CPAN modules ... getting your name as a co-author with the ability to say "I wrote that 100 line subroutine in its entirety, plus these tests over here" shows not only that you can write code, but that you can write code as part of a team.
My criteria for good software:
- Does it work?
- Can someone else come in, make a change, and be reasonably certain no bugs were introduced?
