Great recap Juerd. You forgot the best part though. perl's "compile" switch (-c) now works.
perl -c lib/Foo.pm
dwims! ;)

    Did i miss something? Isn't -c a syntax check mode?

      Yah sure. Perl does all the normal compilation stuff it always does. It also does an exit() before runtime. That's all. "Getting it compiled" is bending the truth.
