I am a recent convert to linux and perl after 10 years of hacking about with c++ and spreadsheets in windows.
My main long-term goal is to create an real-time stock trading environment and especially to create autonomous agents to handle timing of trade, data gathering etc. Whether I ever complete this is doubtful.
The best thing about the project is that along the way I get to hack around with all the best modules and concepts: LWP, DBI, POE, sockets etc.
