How can i control emitting time of wefts on serial port ?

Hi,

      I'd would like to control with a PERL script a little motor linked on my serial port on which will stand a cam or anything else.
  Thus, in order to do such a thing, i have read all that i could find in the monastery gates, because this thema have been approached two times, but my main problem was not resolved.

 -  In fact, i'm not able to control the run time ... for instance, i don't know how to say it to operate during five seconds.
 -  Then, I would like to control it with the keyboard or a pad, but the same question came to me. What kind of binary wefts must i send to control it during the same time i have pressed a key ?

you could check out fastolfe's home node which will lead you to fastolfe.net
He had a web cam setup that was controlled with a perl interface (I could be wrong though)
I beleive his setup used lego mindstorms. But he might have some helpful hints.

    Ok, thanks, but he has made it with LEGO Mindstorms, so that's not what i wanted even if he has given me ideas.
