    I know it is a little stretch of the imagination, but sheesh..

      Perhaps it was not a lack of imagination, but a lack of being impressed.

      Not to say I take either view.

      I know you were just trying to make(1) a joke, but PCRE is not really perl regexes at all (it's from the language who's name I dare not speak)

        Huh???, You are wrong mistaken. PCRE is in fact a stand alone project that had nothing to do with the PHPatchwork other than PHP decided to use lpcre since they couldn't find a shell script to do it. PCRE was in fact created as a Perl Compatible Regular Expressions library for C
