Hmm, wonder then how CPAN got so big in the first place... Yes, given Perl is rather old, but still. Perl 5 came 1994, Python came 1990, and Ruby 1995...

    If you're really curious, pick up a copy of my book. Short version: the will-power and vision of a few key people made it possible. Yes, the community matters but without our librarians we'd just have a bunch of FTP sites like everyone else.

      Hmm, $1.89 for a book that really costs $34.95? Haven't really used this Amazon stuff, but $1.89 I can afford... ;) But, seems little too good to be true though... I mean such a decrease...
