You've gotten a lot of flack (mostly elsewhere) about this, but I wanted to take a moment to thank you
for taking the time to report a suspected bug and present your arguments; even if you turn out to be
on the wrong track, poking into things that don't work as you expect and reporting the results can be
immensely valuable. I really hope you don't let all the friction keep you from doing the same thing
next time.
