in reply to Publish the FAQ?

Why an offline reference to something largely useful only if you're online? I see how you can code Perl without a connection (assuming you have modules installed already, etc. etc.), but apart from... I honestly don't know who, PerlMonks is not largely useful without a connection, and I'm really only interested in knowing about how XP works (does anyone even know that anymore? ;)) if I'm on PerlMonks, in which case... I have the FAQ right there :)

Someone will come up with some way of offlining PM and make me look completely stupid :)

Now there's no need for that kind of talk, the new system's perfectly straightforward and easy to understand. It's simply:

    dXP/dt = (sin(moon_phase) / (upvotes/sec - downvotes/hectare)) y_in_ +month_flag

Given FireFox and IE7 with multiple tabs you are 'now' correct about the online experience (you were not-- not that long ago). But as PM grows so does its complexity and so will the size of the FAQ. The task of finding things in an even a well organized linked online document still has yet to beat a dog eared book. A solution that goes on working even after you turn off or move away from your computer. All that said, the argument that trumps all others is that I desperately need something to catch the cracker crumbs when I try and figure out how to use the chatterbox in bed :)

"Never try to teach a pig to wastes your time and it annoys the pig."

I agree with hsm. Especially the "...even a well organized linked online document still has yet to beat a dog eared book."

But I would also agree with the others that I just don't think there is enough "general interest" in the community-at-large to justify a formal publication.

A downloadable pdf, on the otherhand, would be real nice.
