What if there was a cap on how high you could go unless you donated?
That's part of what an "in (good|excellent|examplary) standing" label gets at. But instead of capping the XP level one could attain, it lets peer pressure drive donations. Part of my concern about a cap is that it's the often the highly rated monks that add the value that keeps people coming back for more.
