I can afford to spend so much time at the Monastery because:

I got rich using Perl before the bubble burst
I work from home
With my dectupled productivity (thanks to Perl), I only need to work 1 hour per day
Parents' basement... 'nuff said
I'm independently wealthy
Sugar daddy/momma
I can't (or, Hi, my name's ____, and I'm an addict)
Perl is critical to my job and I can't afford not to
