tirwhan has asked for the wisdom of the Perl Monks concerning the following question:

Fellow monkses,

I'd like to receive an email from rt.cpan.org whenever a bug is reported against a module I own. From working with other RT installations I know this is possible and easy to set up, but rt.cpan.org seems to be missing the interface for this setup, and searching through the available settings did not yield an answer to this question. What's even more puzzling is that this seems to have worked for one bug (#41016), for which I did receive an email on bug submission, but does not work for other bugs (e.g.#43500), which were reported exactly the same way (this is definitely not a spam filter issue on my side, I run my own mail server and can find out whether an email to me was rejected or not, these weren't).

As a bonus question: "normal" RT installs show a record of email messages sent for a ticket in the ticket log (one can examine the complete message and thereby determine who emails were sent to), rt.cpan.org does not do that, so I can't be sure whether my responses to bug submitters were actually sent to them. Is there any way to turn this on?

Disclaimer: I know that rt-cpan-admin@bestpractical.com is the address to which issues with rt.cpan.org should be reported. I decided to ask this question here first because 1.) This way there will be a public record that others with the same problem can search/find in the future. And 2.) there are knowledgeable people who come here with the express purpose of answering questions. So rather than bugging the (possibly overworked) rt-cpan-admin it seems sensible to ask a question here first and maybe have it answered by people who are eager to solve problems :-). If nobody here knows the answer I'll ask rt-cpan-admin (and record his/her answer in this ticket).

Update: according to the fine folk at rt-cpan-admin@bestpractical.com , this was caused by a period of high server load on rt.cpan.org, which caused sendmail processes to die. Should be fixed now and not happen again.

All dogma is stupid.

      me++

      I've always got rt emails for my modules and when I look now I discover there are new entries for the last few days I never got an email for.
