on Apr 27, 2001 at 17:06 UTC ( #76057=perlmeditation: print w/replies, xml ) Need Help??

Has anybody tried WinEdit2000 as a Perl Editor before?

I am looking for a user friendly editor which has the ability to do spell check.

Any recommendations?

Thanks.

I use UltraEdit for win32 systems. It has some very handy search/replace features and some spell checking functionality too.

A new entry in the field that seems to get overlooked is ActiveState's Komodo. It's built on Mozilla, and has built in Perl editing features like syntax checking, code folding, and RE functionality built in to the IDE. As far as I could tell, if you're using it just for your self, you can get a free full license.

    Textpad.

Spell check, clip libraries, syntax highlighting, regular expression search/replace plus macros and other neato cool things.

Not free, but not expensive. Well maintained program.

When I am using Windows, I use CuteHTML 2.0. It colors code for both perl and html, so you don't have to switch between editors if you are doing CGI. It also has a spell checker.

I have to add to the UltraEdit afficiando group - I have been using it for a couple years now and it is by far the best text editor I have ever used (sometimes I even wish it had been ported to Linux!).

    Just my two cents...
