    works for me with:
    % perl -le 'print unpack p,unpack$^V<5.01?P4:x12a4,unpack P16,pack L,\ +japh' % perl -v This is perl, v5.10.0 built for i686-linux Copyright 1987-2007, Larry Wall [...]

    Doesn't work for me: gives 'x' outside of string in unpack at - line 1., with perl 5.14.2 x86_64-linux. Same error with a recent bleadperl, perl 5.12.3 and 5.10.1 on the same machine.
