My guess is that it's already finished! Actually, it's abandoned :( It stopped (apparently shortly after I went to bed) with a dratted pop-up asking me to confirm something or other, still showing > 39000 days to go. I'll try again tonight. This time I'll wait for the pop-up and hit the "Ignore all" button before retiring. In the end, I ran the decompress on one subtree at a time rather than the whole disk, (and simply erased about half of them that I no longer needed first), so I don't have an actual time that is comparible.
