Library Tools in Perl, you know, libraries, with books...

Petras has asked for the wisdom of the Perl Monks concerning the following question:

Hello, Monks!

A funny thing happened to me on the way to google...We're trying to set up a community library (not a program library; a collection of books for the people on this island!). It'd make pretty good sense to order things in some sort of deweyish system. But I'm not a library scientist--I'm a Perl newbie. So I figured there'd be some Perl code somewhere useful to librarians. BUT if you search.cpan.org for Library you get 5000 results that don't quite match the problem :~)

So, a first nugget of Perl wisdom for which I seek is, "ANY IDEAS FOR BETTER SEARCH TERMS?!?!?!?"

A second thought, for anyone interested in jumping on a program to help a community service not-for-profit-project, I'd like to be able to enter book title and/or ISBN and/or author and/or publisher and/or copyright date, and have LWP buzz through a hundred public and campus library databases and give me the best few possible catalog numbers.

So, a question, what search words to use? :~)

Cheers! ~p

ABE Books has an excellent free book management program called Homebase, which you can download here.

It backups up the information you enter in plain ASCII.

I've been thinking about writing an interface class in Perl. If the utility looks useful to you, let me know and I'll start work on it.
