Is 02packages.details.txt.gz outdated?

Anonymous Monk has asked for the wisdom of the Perl Monks concerning the following question:

I saw on http://search.cpan.org/recent that there is new version of HTML-Parser (3.65). I tried installing, but cpan/cpanp said I have the latest (3.64). It looks like ftp://ftp.funet.fi/pub/languages/perl/CPAN/modules/03modlist.data.gz is broken, it shows
HTML::Parser 3.64 G/GA/GAAS/HTML-Parser-3.64.ta +r.gz
Am I wrong?

    Is 02packages.details.txt.gz outdated?

    Yes, by hours. 3.65 which was uploaded today, and the server to which you are connecting simply hasn't mirrored that addition yet. Switch mirror or wait (at most) a day!

        http://mirrors.cpan.org/ indeed seems to imply that.

        Dist-Zilla-Plugin-MakeMaker-Awesome-0.04, uploaded on the 3rd, is the newest my mirror (uwaterloo) and funet see.

        Something does seem wrong.

    Don't forget to run reload index and then reload cpan from the cpan shell; however, the last time I mounted something on CPAN, it took a week before cpan could find it. In the meantime, try it the long way from the shell like:
    cpan> install G/GA/GAAS/HTML-Parser-3.65.tar.gz
    It won't find it at first so just let it run. It will find and install 3.65 for you.
      It's not a question of the local index being out of date. The module is simply not present on any mirror.

    It's available at backpan.
    Funny ... backpan was also the first place that made perl-5.12.0-RC3.tar.gz available to me the other day when it was first released.

    Cheers,
    Rob
