under the section: ``Specifying too much'' you said:

$line =~ /^\w*: \w*\s*\w*, \w*: \w*, \w+: (\d)*, \w*: \w*$";

This ends the regexp with a `"' and starts it with `/`. you could do m"..." or /.../ .

    your allowed to do that with regexs? I just learned you could use [], (), "", <>, etc., with qq...

    I should read more on Perl.
