If you want to create art, look at the various canvas widgets available in the various GUI toolkits, like Tk::Canvas, Tk::Zinc, Goo::Canvas, Gtk2::DrawingArea, etc.

For your stimulation, see Tk Rubberband Demo and SuperFormula with gnuplot and Tk and Drawing with Perl/Gtk2 and Goo::Canvas Waypoint marker w zoom/save to svg and pdf

Finally, see the Tk::Zinc tutorial Zinc is a canvas that handles motion, position, and zooming effectively...... great for artistic effects.
