I don't take advantage of #5 nearly often enough. For me writing code down on paper just makes me think differently about the problem. I've been stuck on an algorithmic problems for hours staring at the computer screen and then start writing sample code down on paper and somehow the solution just pops out in a few minutes of chicken scratching.
