in reply to Writing answers for newbie questions

I get the impressions that a reasonable proportion of newbie questions here have already been asked. In such cases, I think it's best to politely direct the poster towards Super Search and one or more threads where the same issue has already been discussed. There's no need to discuss the issue again - indeed doing so will mean users who fail to associate both threads with each other will miss out on potentially useful information.

Considering my own posts, I guess other monks must agree with me. Several of my highest ranked nodes are very basic I found this useful information using Super Search, such as Re: need both from system-call.
