For handling csv-files, you should check out the Text::CSV module. Unless you need all the records in memory at once it seems to me that you could deal with the large files one record at a time. CountZero A program should be light and agile, its subroutines connected like a string of pearls. The spirit and intent of the program should be retained throughout.
