My opinions on sexuality are my own. If I choose to be surprised that someone who calls himself 'Abigail' is a male then that is hardly bigoted. Bayes Rule would suggest that if you know someone is calling themselves 'Abigail' then there is at least a 99 percent chance that they are female.
When a one percent probability event occurs such as a male 'Abigail' then one is entitled to feel and express surprise. Which I did.
