Perhaps it is just because I am more familiar with the visual arts, but the term minimalism comes to mind :). And although there is a certain minimalism to the Haiku, this feels distinctly western to me. Maybe it's the presence of a punch-line.

    Well... that was kind of the point... Amoeba's are minimalistic, so a poem about them should be... :) And of course, if you run it eat's your system... of course, without any checks maybe I should have named it the life of a bacterium...
