G'day jdlev,
Yes, there's a setting for that:
-
Go to your home node. You'll see Edit your: Profile, Settings. Follow the Settings link.
-
You'll now be at the User Settings page. You'll see See Also: Display Settings, .... Follow the Display Settings link.
-
You'll now be at the Display Settings page. In the fourth table (Code Listing Settings), you'll see Large Code Font with a checkbox. Select this checkbox.
-
At the bottom of the Display Settings page, hit Submit. Code should now be larger.
You'll also see on the Display Settings page: Stylesheet Settings.
Here, you can link to an external CSS stylesheet or write your own custom CSS.
-
Are you posting in the right place? Check out Where do I post X? to know for sure.

Posts may use any of the Perl Monks Approved HTML tags. Currently these include the following:
<code> <a> <b> <big>
<blockquote> <br /> <dd>
<dl> <dt> <em> <font>
<h1> <h2> <h3> <h4>
<h5> <h6> <hr /> <i>
<li> <nbsp> <ol> <p>
<small> <strike> <strong>
  <table>
<td> <th> <tr> <tt>
<u> <ul>
-
Snippets of code should be wrapped in
<code> tags not
<pre> tags. In fact, <pre>
tags should generally be avoided. If they must
be used, extreme care should be
taken to ensure that their contents do not
have long lines (<70 chars), in order to prevent
horizontal scrolling (and possible janitor
intervention).

or How to display code and escape characters
are good places to start.
