( [id://3333]=superdoc: print w/replies, xml ) Need Help??

Hi

Why? Because there are lots of beginners out there, who either don't have time to or are unwilling to learn how to use perl.

They just want fast results, they don't care about maintainability or improving their skills. Imagine what happens when they get ten answers linking to FAQs, HOWTOs, documentation, or showing examples of the right way, but require a little bit of thinking; and one or two answers showing how to abuse perl into the way they are currently thinking.

Let's make it hard for the unwilling and the people in a hurry to find bad code, bad examples. Posting sane examples is good, improving a code example posted is even better.

Hi

Don't worry about it new monk :)

You can't protect people from themselves, the internet (even perlmonks) is full of bad code

Don't give it a second thought

Many of us have already changed the way we respond many times ...

we grow, we learn, we change our replies

Title:
Use:  <p> text here (a paragraph) </p>
and:  <code> code here </code>
to format your post; it's "PerlMonks-approved HTML":

  • Are you posting in the right place? Check out Where do I post X? to know for sure.
  • Posts may use any of the Perl Monks Approved HTML tags. Currently these include the following:
    <code> <a> <b> <big> <blockquote> <br /> <dd> <dl> <dt> <em> <font> <h1> <h2> <h3> <h4> <h5> <h6> <hr /> <i> <li> <nbsp> <ol> <p> <small> <strike> <strong> <table> <td> <th> <tr> <tt> <u> <ul>
  • Snippets of code should be wrapped in <code> tags not <pre> tags. In fact, <pre> tags should generally be avoided. If they must be used, extreme care should be taken to ensure that their contents do not have long lines (<70 chars), in order to prevent horizontal scrolling (and possible janitor intervention).
  • Want more info? How to link or How to display code and escape characters are good places to start.
