My employer asks us to set aside "a few hours a week" to
improve our skills... and I've been trying to train some of
our new hires (mostly those who'll be maintaining my code)
to read Perl Monks regularly, if not create an account and
get seriously involved. We'll see how it turns out, but
they're smart folk and ought to see the benefit.
Oh, and being able to say "ran into this
problem, posted
to Perl Monks, got a brilliant solution from
merlyn, saved hours of time" in a weekly report was lots
o' fun. :-)

Snippets of code should be wrapped in
<code> tags not
<pre> tags. In fact, <pre>
tags should generally be avoided. If they must
be used, extreme care should be
taken to ensure that their contents do not
have long lines (<70 chars), in order to prevent
horizontal scrolling (and possible janitor
intervention).
