It shouldn't be too hard to write save and restore functions
that dump the appropriate values of the hashes.
And it's real easy to make class level save and restore functions
that save/restore *all* the instances of a class.
However, to do this right, you do need to cooperation of the
classes you inherit....

Snippets of code should be wrapped in
<code> tags not
<pre> tags. In fact, <pre>
tags should generally be avoided. If they must
be used, extreme care should be
taken to ensure that their contents do not
have long lines (<70 chars), in order to prevent
horizontal scrolling (and possible janitor
intervention).
