Okay, but for instance there isn't a new method in the Date::Calc object. Wouldn't it have to auto-instantiate the object before it could call methods on itself? If it's passing a reference, what is it passing a ref to, if no object has been created?
jaybonci@starlite:~/perl$ perl -MDate::Calc -e 'my $foo = new Date::Ca
+lc;'
Can't locate auto/Date/Calc/new.al in @INC (@INC contains: /etc/perl /

Posts may use any of the Perl Monks Approved HTML tags. Currently these include the following:
<code> <a> <b> <big>
<blockquote> <br /> <dd>
<dl> <dt> <em> <font>
<h1> <h2> <h3> <h4>
<h5> <h6> <hr /> <i>
<li> <nbsp> <ol> <p>
<small> <strike> <strong>
  <table>
<td> <th> <tr> <tt>
<u> <ul>
-
Snippets of code should be wrapped in
<code> tags not
<pre> tags. In fact, <pre>
tags should generally be avoided. If they must
be used, extreme care should be
taken to ensure that their contents do not
have long lines (<70 chars), in order to prevent
horizontal scrolling (and possible janitor
intervention).
