You seem to be spreading functionality that can be contained within the logging function. Why not:
use warning;
use strict;
{
my %log_seen;
sub log_info {
# do not continue if done before
return if $log_seen{(caller(1))[3]}++;
warn(@_, "\n");
}
}
sub f {
log_info('some information');
print "called f()\n";
}
f();
f();
__END__
some information
called f()
called f()

Posts may use any of the Perl Monks Approved HTML tags. Currently these include the following:
<code> <a> <b> <big>
<blockquote> <br /> <dd>
<dl> <dt> <em> <font>
<h1> <h2> <h3> <h4>
<h5> <h6> <hr /> <i>
<li> <nbsp> <ol> <p>
<small> <strike> <strong>
  <table>
<td> <th> <tr> <tt>
<u> <ul>
-
Snippets of code should be wrapped in
<code> tags not
<pre> tags. In fact, <pre>
tags should generally be avoided. If they must
be used, extreme care should be
taken to ensure that their contents do not
have long lines (<70 chars), in order to prevent
horizontal scrolling (and possible janitor
intervention).
