( [id://3333]=superdoc: print w/replies, xml ) Need Help??

Look I want to put a node up right now explaining some stuff to some folks who are actually interested in reading it, and I know full well that if I do that I'm going to get thumbed down etc by you folks what's above it all and don't need to read my posts.

So I'm thinking, wouldn't it be cool if there was like a section for just random stuff about whatever Perlish sort of things people want to discuss which doesn't clutter up the rest of the place, and can be easily and conveniently completely ignored by whoever knows so much about Perl that they can safely do so and be sure not to miss out on anything they might want to see.

Before you say scratchpad, there is only one of those and that's a pain, I'd like to have a whole bunch of nodes which are tucked away so you'd only find them if you went looking, wherein I can layout a proper argument, code sketchups and alpha code fragments, as I see fit without being claustrophibcally web 1.0 stylee smudged into a crowded room full of people who judge before they bother reading.

You could move all my nodes there, completely compartmentalising my input unless I post in the regular channels....

Obviously everyone would have the same facility, and it could generate a lot of interesting new code, fostering innovation... a system where people feel free to just try things out instead of being in some ego game nonsense rubbish contest oooh my Perl's bigger than your Perl... ner ner...

Maybe call it the code garden, or the monastery grounds perhaps.

Title:
Use:  <p> text here (a paragraph) </p>
and:  <code> code here </code>
to format your post; it's "PerlMonks-approved HTML":

  • Are you posting in the right place? Check out Where do I post X? to know for sure.
  • Posts may use any of the Perl Monks Approved HTML tags. Currently these include the following:
    <code> <a> <b> <big> <blockquote> <br /> <dd> <dl> <dt> <em> <font> <h1> <h2> <h3> <h4> <h5> <h6> <hr /> <i> <li> <nbsp> <ol> <p> <small> <strike> <strong> <table> <td> <th> <tr> <tt> <u> <ul>
  • Snippets of code should be wrapped in <code> tags not <pre> tags. In fact, <pre> tags should generally be avoided. If they must be used, extreme care should be taken to ensure that their contents do not have long lines (<70 chars), in order to prevent horizontal scrolling (and possible janitor intervention).
  • Want more info? How to link or How to display code and escape characters are good places to start.
