My answer above can be ignored. I looked at some
*.ppd files of other packages, and found that those
that contain the line
do not install (same error), however when I remove that line from a *.ppd file, packages install without any problems using the instructions in the readme.<ARCHITECTURE NAME="MSWin32-x86-object" />
