Why not to use Email::Valid to parse email addresses

Over the years, I have had strong disagreements regarding not using Email::Valid to parse email addresses. These arguments have been with well known and respected members of the perl community - most notably chromatic and merlyn. I am providing a list of nodes here in case it comes up again.
