True. Opportunity cost. That said, a couple of emails from principal devs, along the lines of:

"Is there currently anything keeping you from joining our project? Is there anything you see us doing incorrectly that you might be able to help fix?".

might gain a contributor or two. Well, wouldn't do any harm, anyway.

I was posing the question from the point of view of a Parrot developer asking a prospective contributor what it would take to get them to join the Parrot effort.

What sort of discrete parcel of effort do you think a prospective contributor is looking for from the current Parrot team?

Sorry. I guess it was just a knee jerk statement of the thought that crossed my mind when I read your post.

It derives from this scenario.

You've just read about the new release of Parrot. You've read some post or blog somewhere saying how things would go faster if more bodies were involved. So, you follow a link and install it. Read a few readmes and work out how to build it. Then what?

If you respond to a mates call for a painting party at their new house, you reserve a morning or an afternoon or all day on the alloted weekend. Put the appropriate cloths on. Perhaps sort out a coupe of brushes, a roller, a clean can and a couple of rags and turn up. And your mate says:

Thanks for coming. What's your bag, emulsion or gloss? Whichever you're most in need of. Great. Most people are opting for emulsion and there is lots of gloss to do. It's all going to be Brilliant White except the kitchen and bathroom, so start wherever you feel like. Especially helpful would be the banisters in the hall and Georgian window frames in almost every room.

So, you pour some paint in your pot, turps up a rag and set to. And for 4 or 6 or 8 hours you contribute. You may not like their color choices. Indeed, you may hate them. But that doesn't prevent you from chipping in.

Then next day you play golf. Or watch a movie. Or visit family. Or whatever.
