Why do you need a perl script to run other perl scripts. Couldn't you just put the functionality of the scripts into the same script?
Some background will be helpful as to what you are trying to accomplish. A different approach might be better. For example 'tabs' are a device to make things easier for humans. Programs dont need to run in tabs. To run a command in the background you can append a '&' to the command. For example if I wanted to run firefox and continue using the terminal i would type "$ firefox &".
Likewise if i were trying to launch multiple perl scripts at the same time I would write a bash script that consisted of something like:
#!/bin/bash ./perlscript1.pl & ./perlscript2.pl & ./perlscript3.pl & #repeat ad nauseum
