## Homework Statement

## Homework Equations

## The Attempt at a Solution

I don't understand how they get the numbers on the right. This is a null space problem so the 3x3 matrix = 0. By my reckoning

(1/3)x

_{3}= 0 so x

_{3}= 0. So then I try the second row.

2x

_{3}= (3/2)x

_{2}

Divide both sides by two and x

_{2}= 3/4

Plug that into the first row and we have

2x

_{1}- 3 [(3/4)x

_{3}] - 2x

_{3}= 0

Simplify

x

_{1}= (11/8)x

_{3}

It's now clear that I'm in disagreement with the book.
