in reply to Net::Jabber inquiry

  1. You need a method of maintaining persistant connections outside of each cgi request. TIMTOWDI. (make a mysql driven script that checks for new inputs periodically, maybe, and handles messaging on the fly. It's possible this has been done already.)
  2. IIRC, Net::Jabber is deprecated, and you need to use POE ... which may be beyond the a fledgling perl programmer, unless you've got experience in signal/event driven coding in other languages. It *is*, however, worth the experience to learn such a thing.
