First of all, I would like to say how much I enjoy perlmonks. My only (minor) criticism is that sometimes I want to vote for something that is long. As a result, I have to scroll past everything else to press the vote button. I tried making a bookmarklet that would just set focus on the vote button but the problem is that the form is not properly named it seems. Although I must say that the vote button is more than appropriately named (view source to see). Seeing as how this is a perl site, I don't know if we can come up with a solution without facing major changes in which case I say this is not worth it. But maybe someone out there is a better Javascripter and can make a bookmarklet for us all to use?

...all I do is press enter after I have voted on something...Just click on the ++ or -- and then press enter.

I would have voted this up, except when I hit enter, nothing happened (yeah, Netscape 4.75).

Hmm, this may sound odd... but I actually prefer to scroll down from long posts and view the other replies. Most times, there are other posts that I wish to read/learn from/vote on as well. Although it is an interesting idea to move the vote button maybe closer to the top of the page or a nodelet to move around(configured in user settings).

I've heard a rumour that the voting and navigation on the latest version on the Perlmonks Everything engine is voice-enabled. At the moment it is only supported if you are using phone.com's UP Browser. Of course, because this is a WAP browser on a cellular phone that has limited text display you have to keep saying "next page" on posts longer than 1024 bytes.

This is just a joke! But I think that merlyn wrote a Web Techniques column that can help you.

If you want you can download Perlmonks Navigator and add buttons for voting. The URL to vote ++ on the above post looks like this:
    http://www.perlmonks.org/index.pl?sexisgreat=vote!&vote__66960=1&node_ +id=66960&op=vote
Given that and the fact that in that JavaScript you already have the current node ID, this is doable.

I still prefer the current interface though. I rather like being able to mark several articles and vote on all of them at once...

    Have you tried Ctrl-End?
