Ozymandias
<p>
<p>
<p>
Email me <a href="mailto:ozymandias@roguestar.net">here.</a>
<p>
I have had the username Ozymandias for nine years now. In that time, people have assumed that it comes from a comic strip; from the Egyptian pharoah Ramses II; and others assume my real name must be Ozzy and I simply picked a variation on it.
<p>
A few get it correct; I selected the name from the poem "Ozymandias" by Percy Bysshe Shelley. The full text of the poem is at the end of the node.
<p>
I can almost always be found hanging out in #perlmonks on Slashnet; drop by and let me hit you with a trout. <G>

I am a systems administrator/IT manager by profession. Email me for my resume if you might possibly need one in the Seattle area.

I may be a sysadmin by day, but by math class (at least for [redmist]) I'm a world-saving <a href="http://redmist.dyndns.org/images/spacemonkeys1.jpg">Space Monkey</a>, apparently. What's a space monkey? Ask [redmist]. At least I get a cool spaceship shaped like an egg. [neshura] got a pair of pseudogloves... which are kinda cool, really, but, um... what's a pseudoglove? And how is it different from a regular glove?
<p>
Am I also a monkey? Will [redmist] draw in landing gear in time to land? Will the Space Monkeys defeat the dastardly J Crench before his fiendish ham radio plot succeeds? What the heck is a pseudoglove, anyway?
<p>
Beats me. Why don't you ask [redmist]?

<b>Ozymandias</b>
<p>
I met a traveller from an antique land<br>
Who said: `Two vast and trunkless legs of stone<br>
Stand in the desert. Near them, on the sand,<br>
Half sunk, a shattered visage lies, whose frown,<br>
And wrinkled lip, and sneer of cold command,<br>
Tell that its sculptor well those passions read<br>
Which yet survive, stamped on these lifeless things,<br>
The hand that mocked them and the heart that fed.<br>
And on the pedestal these words appear --<br>
"My name is Ozymandias, king of kings:<br>
Look on my works, ye Mighty, and despair!"<br>
Nothing beside remains. Round the decay<br>
Of that colossal wreck, boundless and bare<br>
The lone and level sands stretch far away.'
<p>

I'm not sure WHY this is here, other than that someone actually wanted to know why I didn't have one, so I fiddled with it for a while.
