i got suckered into perl coding after convincing myself i wouldn't be a programmer despite the 3 of my 4 parents who are. that was 5 years ago, and boy am i glad. turns out perl thinks largely the same ways i do, which makes it easy. currently, i am questing to learn elegance and brevity of writing style. and figure out what all those #-preceded lines are for.

I am no longer looking for a new temple at which to study -- I am happily employed on the good-guy side of internet security.

i didn't really keep very careful track of my level changes, but i made friar on 2001 Jun 14, the same day as virtualsue.

also, on the subject of meaningless data, i was the perlmonks scapegoat for the first time on June 26th, 2001. (The scapegoat is whatever lucky monk on any given day receives no votes despite being entitled to one or more.)

then i fell off the face of the planet ("sabbatical") for four years. now i'm occassionally in radio contact.

from chatterbox (2001.09.21):
<cacharbe>

He was considered, unconsidered, reconsidered, and reaped
Before his code could be cached or heaped
His time was short, as the nodereaper silently creeped
He was considered, unconsidered, reconsidered, and reaped
