I am sorry, but I don't really understand you. You set an ultimatum, a faux pas in any forum that I know of, and I know some.
Someone calls you on that, in a civil tone and you go up the wall? You want to keep people from this forum for that?
Your "hurt" pride is obviously more important than the reason for this forum, the exchange of ideas to improve perl in all its aspects. (This might not be the official reason, but it is what I have learned from this forum)
I am sorry, but that is simply childish...
I don't know, what my score is, I guess it is 0 or so, as I usually only read and learn, but I really don't think a measly -1 is that big a deal... You need to learn Proportionality(? sorry, this is not my mother tongue). If you fly off the handle for such trivialities, you just alienate the people you ask for help.

".. yet I am now sitting with a -1 reputation for asking a question."
No need to worry about a reputation of -1 for just one thread/question.
But if you didn't have that worsed node of the day (N.B.: you didn't yet...) once you won't become a real monk ;-)
Here is a link about how great this site is and how it works: Moo and Spreadsheet::ParseExcel. I really needed this. Just take a look at the timestamps.
So stay cool, browse through the nodes, respect the simple rules and enjoy.
And i think that everybody here knows how boring it is if you are under pressure and need a solution and you can't figure it out.
I hope this helps and my best regards, Karl

Everyone was helpful.. yet I am now sitting with a -1 reputation for asking a question. I will not recommend anyone else to come here for help though, just because some people have to unfortunately try and be different.
Me too, everywhere I go, no matter how hard or simple the quesiton, or how well I ask it, someone always thinks I could have done better, and someone always throws in an RTFM for good measure
There is no "better place" to recommend, I've been everywhere , it doesn't exist
