How does perl-thanks work?

szabgab has asked for the wisdom of the Perl Monks concerning the following question:

I just tried to send a thank-you note to the Perl 5 porters, but I am not sure if it worked. How can I check it?

First I ran perlthanks on the command-line. After answering all kinds of questions and writing my note, it told me it has submitted the message, but as I don't have a running e-mail system on my machine, I am not sure if it worked at all.

Then I sent an e-mail to from my Gmail account.

I looked both at Perl 5 Porters mailing list archive and in the Perl 5 queue of RT. I could not find either of my submissions.

According to domm, they used to reach the Perl 5 porters list.

So I wonder. Have my attempts failed? Am I looking at the wrong place? Are they waiting in some other queue for someone to approve them manually? Do I need to send the thank you in some other way?

Shall I submit a bug-report complaining that thank-you does not work? :)

The one I e-mailed from Gmail has just showed up in the archive. (6 hours after I sent it). I don't know for sure, but I assume it was held for manual approval as moritz also suggested.

perlthanks is "just" perlbug except you don't get prompted for the error message. So I expect to be heavily filtered for emails that really look as if they have been sent via perlbug. Also, I don't expect them to enter RT, because they are not really bugs.

On the other hand, there has been some mailing list wonkyness, and I'm not sure if it is related to or the mailing list hosting by perl..

Seems like there should be a write-up on this somewhere. Maybe on perl5-porters, perl.(com|org). Heck. Maybe even here. Looks like a great opportunity, for someone who knows/has more/all the details.
    Great question, szabgab.

UPDATE; Thanks marto, for the link. :)
Yes. What say about me, is true.
Thanks, though I could not find if that covers what happens after I sent the report. If it requires manual approval that might take several hours to arrive, and if I get any feedback.
