My favorite alternative to the semicolon as the Perl line terminator is:

#	And everyone can argue over what its called.
:	Semi-colons have been here long enough!
(space)	Why waste an extra char?
.	Stop right here
LW	Give credit where its due.
Perl6	Everyone knows that's a dead end.
