TheAlexGamer has asked for the wisdom of the Perl Monks concerning the following question:

Heyy! I wanted to ask why there is no Perl IDE for Android, and if there is a way that allows me install Perl? I'm searching for another way than Termux. An IDE would be optimal, but i already researched for hours and yeah.. I didn't find anything.

I'm searching for another way than Termux.

It would be useful for you to say in which way(s) Termux fails to meet your requirements so we don't all waste our time suggesting alternatives which you then find equally unsuitable.

From my experience termux is as good is of gets right now. I gave up on it eventually, reverting back to just using ssh/screen to connect to a Linux box. I don't own a tablet, but have run android since the first generation of Android phones, it's never really worked for me as a development 'workstation' beside playing around.

Hi, I don't know about an IDE but you can get Perl on Android with https://termux.com. I also recommend Hacker's Keyboard.

update: .o0O( did I really miss the termux reference when I replied?)

    Hope this helps!

The way forward always starts with a minimal test.

I agree with Hippo that you should tell us why and how termux fails to meet your requirements.

Regarding IDEs I have no problem running emacs there.

FWIW: you could also try to run WebPerl in a mobile browser from a local file://URL. It doesn't have an IDE but HaukeX was already able to bundle a basic editor with syntax highlighting in one of his demos.

If termux were not already available this would be my choice. Plus the potential to run on iOS (untested).
