Javascript isn't the only option for HTML - there's also WebPerl. See: Run Perl 5 in the Browser!.

Thanks for the idea...
Sounds like a neat idea, I looked at the windows demo in Chrome,
but when I tried to load the same page in FireFox on Centos6 it didn't work (said Perl was not ready)
Seems a little too experimental to port my rather large code base to.
