other: the previous version of perldoc.perl.org

It was not perfect at all, but this beta is even less readable. Another victim of mobile browsability ;)

I'm not a big web explorer and I didnt noticed many sites of the poll in last years: I'll take a tour via waybackmachine

    hippo++ for this poll

Reinvent the wheel, then learn The Wheel; may be one day you reinvent one of THE WHEELS.

It was quite badly broken, the new one at least shows accurate core modules. I prefer the look and feel of https://perldoc.pl.

For those not already aware of it if you use DuckDuckGO as your browser's search engine you can use their "bang" feature to get to:

        !perldoc
        Docs from the aforementioned perldoc.pl
        !cpan
        Metacpan module searches
        !perlmonks
        You're soaking in it!

The Perl Journal (yes, I know, it was a magazine, it got delivered to my house, back then that was a "site".)

The way forward always starts with a minimal test.

    Craigslist Personals. :-)

Just another Perl hooker - My clients appreciate that I keep my code clean but my comments dirty.

Personally, i still miss the old search.cpan.org

While metacpan beats it in every technical way with its much more advanced features, search.cpan.org was easier to use exactly because it had a lot less features. It was delightfully uncluttered and had all the features i needed.

Other: PerlMonks, but as it exists in some alternate universe where it underwent a major design overhaul at some point in the past 10 years or so.

(I am refraining from discussing specific differences, but this idea goes well beyond things like the incremental changes that have been made over the years, or tricks which a few users have attempted using CSS, etc. This idea could be considered parallel to the modernization efforts of other Perl-related sites, but I mainly consider it to merely be the rejection of or shifting away from the perceived attitude that “PerlMonks’ existing design—as seen by users—is nearly perfect, and should be changed as little as possible”. Resuming hiatus…)

"I am refraining from discussing specific differences"

Good, since you have no way of knowing what specificif differences there would be between the perlmonks which exists in reality, and your theoretical alternative universe/Bizzaro dimension.

"I mainly consider it to merely be the rejection of or shifting away from the perceived attitude that “PerlMonks’ existing design—as seen by users—is nearly perfect"

I've never seen that attitude here, seems like you are jumping to conclusions.
